The
March club newsletter has been published! We are changing things around a bit this month and going forward.
The current issue of the club newsletter is being made available to club members only. Back issues will continue to be available to the general public. This has nothing to do with the recent award the club newsletters have won from the American Bicyclist Magazine. The board has been discussing this change off and on for over a year. Keeping back issues available to the public represents the best of both worlds. Being a KCBC member has its benefits!
This is a call for volunteers: KCTC's Brew 2 BrewKCBC and the Kansas City Track Club have an agreement to provide volunteers at each others' events. This is a long-running relationship that benefits both clubs. Those of us who don't understand the sick and grueling punishment known as jogging can help support their events thru saner avenues, such as helping to run the race (vs. actually running in the race). On the flip side, those sick and twisted people who don't enjoy pedaling in circles and acting like small children, provide some volunteers on some KCBC rides. Get involved, meet some new people, and have fun!
The first opportunity for volunteers to get out and help is Sunday, April 11, 2010. That is the date for the Kansas City Track Club's(KCTC) annual run, the Brew 2 Brew, a run from Boulevard Brewing Company in Kansas City to Free State Brewery in Lawrence Kansas.
Last year KCBC supplied volunteers to fully staff 4 of their rest stops and had a few people helping at 3 other locations. I imagine the same 4 locations will be assigned to us this year.

The
2010 KCBC Winter Banquet was a great success with more than 100
fun-loving folks to enjoy friends, good food, prizes and a stirring speaker!
To
help people get to know each other we had a scavenger hunt of cycling
experience questions which put a few attendees in high demand (collarbone breakees, runner-overers of squirrels, and the elusive cyclist who has hit (been hit by?) a deer. Our Special Guest Speaker was the esteemed Ed 'The Professor' Chasteen. Ed entertained and inspired guests with stories of his
HateBusters group activities, travels (on bike, of course), and overall life experiences and philosophy.
At the banquet, general membership approved the proposed changes to the club's by-laws.
