Merger Proposal

Over the past few years, the idea of merging the Kansas City Bicycle Club and the Johnson County Bicycle Club has been kicked around. This year, both clubs dedicated board members time to consider the proposal by establishing a joint committee. Several meetings were held to review the pros and cons of the idea. The results of this endeavor are documented in a six page report that is available for review. The bottom line is that the committee recommended to each board that a single entity could better serve the cycling needs of the area.  After review, each board concurred. As a final step, each club will put to general membership vote the proposal to form a single new entity structured as 501(c) 3 to service the local cycling community. For the Kansas City Bicycle Club, a special membership meeting will be held on Sunday, August 21st at our quarterly meeting/picnic at Little Blue Trace Picnic Area. Details and free registration here. The board encourages all members to attend and recommends a vote in favor for the proposed merger. Please feel free to review the committee’s report and make any inquiries you may have as a result of such review.
