2007 Ride Reports
FOUNTAIN TOUR 2007
The 2007 Fountain Tour was a BIG success. Over 300 riders participated in the tour that was a new route. I know some folks missed going to the northland for the fountain on Vivion and North Oak, but with the road construction, the club felt it was not worth taking the chance with your safety.
The SAGS were great again this year. Some photos below.
The one glitch that we realized too late was the lack of “facilities”. We apologize and promise that you will be taken care of in the future.

NORTHLAND DELIGHT 2007
What a day! The route was awesome, the SAGS and volunteers were the best, the weather was great (until about noon) and the picnic lunch was out of this world.

The Jamesport Double Nickel was another great BIG success. Check out the newsletter for some of the photos, and while you are drooling over the picture of the skewered shrimp and grilled asparagus that le Chef Ron Puett prepared for us, I will tell you about the weekend.
Several riders ventured to Crowder State Park on Friday night, we got our bunk house all nice a homey for the weekend. After that, we prepared our evening meal of scallops and steak. Well, we were hungry after the two hour drive.
On Saturday morning, some of the riders left the gas eating SUV’s parked and rode their bikes to Jamesport to meet up with the riders to start the Double Nickel. The weather was perfect, not too hot, not too cool, a little overcast, with just a slight threat of rain.
The mileage options were 20, 25, 30 and 55 miles. Some of the roads were newly paved which made for an ever so smooth ride. We did get a sprinkle of rain, but not enough to dampen (no pun intended) our spirits and our zest to do this ride.
Saturday evening the group, 16 of us, went to dinner at the finest eating establishment in Jamesport and had an awesome dinner of fried chicken, roast beef, real mashed potatoes with lumps, yummy! The dinner was completed with the best strawberry/rhubarb pie I have ever tasted, well, there was apple and blackberry too. Oh, let’s not forget the homemade, (I suppose hand cranked) ice cream to compliment the pie.
Sunday brought us another fabulous day for riding, a little bit cooler, but by noon, the arm warmers came off. The picnic lunch that le Chef served us was out of this world. I cannot begin to describe it so that you will drool, you will just have to see for yourself next year.
Sunday evening’s dinner was a joint venture of all riders. The Douglas’ smoked a turkey and everyone else added their culinary contribution. We could hardly move from the table.
This ride is a MUST. It is fantastic! I spoke with the park ranger and he tells me that there are miles of dirt bike trails, walking trails, swimming lakes, and of course road riding. Whatever you want,Crowder State Park has it.
